The Management of the Erasmus Mundus - Al Idrisi partnership and the implementation of the mobility activities, are based on a multilateral cooperation network of universities that operates at two different and interconnected levels: a global structural and a local operative level.
Partnership Coordination Board
On the global structural level, the main decision making body of the Erasmus Mundus - Al Idrisi consortium is the Partnership Coordination Board (PCB) which is composed by one representative per Partner University. The presidency is held by the project coordinator (Universidad de Granada). The Partnership Coordination Board is in charge of any action that commits the consortium as a whole, such as approval and modifications of the Partnership Agreement, readjustments of the mobility flow distribution, adequate timing of the project activities, monitoring and evaluation of the project performance, amongst others.
To make the project run smoother, some of the responsibilities of the Partnership Coordination Board were conferred on two committees: The Advisory and Selection Committee (ASC) and the Quality Assurance Committee (QAS). Both of them will be elected during the Kick-off Meeting of the Erasmus Mundus - Al Idrisi project (Granada, 5-6 October 2011). They share the same composition, that is, 6 members of the Partnership Coordination Board being 3 members from different European and 3 members from different Maghrebian countries. The chair of each Committee is held by the project leader (Universidad de Granada).
Advisory and Selection Committee
The tasks of the Advisory and Selection Committee are the final selection of candidates according to the ranking done by the partners and taking into account the cross-cutting requirements of equal opportunities, gender-balance and participation of disabled and economically disadvantaged people. Furthermore it will advise on any subject related to the project and on operational decisions.
Quality Assurance Committee
The Quality Assurance Committee may be reinforced by external experts (associate partners, relevant organizations, etc.). Main tasks of the Quality Assurance Committee are the implementation of the quality assurance policy, the monitoring of the evolution for the project, the academic performance of the grantees and regular reports to the Partnership Coordination Board and the Project Management Unit.
Operative Management
The executive corps on local level of the Erasmus Mundus - Al Idrisi consortium are formed by two Management Units: the Project Management Unit (PMU) and the Local Operative Unit (LOU). Centralized on the applicant university, the Universidad de Granada, as the body responsible for the project before the European Commission and Education Audiovisual and Cultural Executive Agency (EACEA), the Project Management Unit is in charge for the correct implementation and coordination of the project, among other responsibilities. On the other side, a Local Operative Unit, established at each partner University, works according to internal regulations and needs for the successful implementation of the mobility flows.

Erasmus Mundus - Al Idrisi: A scholarship scheme for exchange and cooperation between Europe and the Maghreb is an Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Strand 1 partnership for Lot 1 (Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia) that will establish an active institution-based mobility network among 3 Algerian, 4 Moroccan and 3 Tunisian universities on the one side and 10 European partners on the other. The project will allow undergraduate, master and doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows and academic and administrative staff to gain valuable experience, knowledge and contacts abroad. The project focuses strongly on regional needs in the Maghreb and the development of specific and relevant areas that will be defined by the partners. Furthermore, the project will provide improved education and training opportunities for vulnerable groups and socio- economically disadvantaged students and promote equal access to higher education for students from less developed areas.
Erasmus Mundus - Al Idrisi is co-financed by the European Commission in the framework of the Erasmus Mundus programme.
